Description Of Work: The kitchen was gutted, The location of the appliances was changed, needing plumbing and electrical work to be performed; the floor was removed down to the sub-floor and re-built, ending with porcelain tiles; new cabinets, countertops, appliances (stove, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator), plumbing and lighting fixtures were installed.
Comment: Last year I fully renovated the kitchen in my co-op apartment, and I had the good fortune of hiring Builder Leader to do the renovation. After hearing horror stories from other people regarding contractors, I was braced to deal with a similar situation. But, I lucked out. George Beck was and is very professional, he listened to me and resolved my concerns; he worked with me to satisfy the requirements of the co-op, and he and his crew were very diligent in keeping the common areas of the building very clean. My apartment, and in particular the construction area, was left clean every day. George went with me to help me choose the kitchen cabinets, countertops and floor tiles, and when the co-op insisted on a floor sound barrier, George took care of that as well. When the renovation was about a week and a half away from completion, I had a family emergency that required my going out of town for a couple of weeks. I felt confident in having George and his crew continue their work in my absence, thereby finishing the renovation on time, right before Thanksgviing. George has a keen eye for details and his work in impecable. His cost estimate was right on the money. Hiring Builder Leader for my kitchen renovation was a very smart choice. And he guarantees his work for two years. An example: The kitchen faucet that I had purchased kept dripping water and the plumber stated that there was something wrong with the faucet. I obtained a kit from the faucet company and George came back to fix the faucet. The faucet kept leaking and the faucet company sent a new faucet. I called George and told him I had the new faucet and that I could have the super in the building install it for me, but George insisted in coming by and installing it. I highly recommend Builder Leader and George Beck without reservation.

Description Of Work: Removed old kitchen hood, bathroom fan and old duct lines. Removed part of ceiling frames and installed new duct line to hood, fan and gas dryer. Installed new vent covers on exterior of house. Re-framed ceiling and installed new sheetrock to openings, patched, plastered and primed those areas. Installed new kitchen hood and bathroom fan.
Comment: We live in the ground floor of a four story brick townhouse. Originally the kitchen hood, bathroom fan and gas dryer were all on the same 3" duct which snaked through the ceiling and out to the back wall. None of the three appliances worked properly. The 1 year old dryer was not drying clothes, the bathroom fan was blowing air into the kitchen and the hood fan simply broke. George, of Builder Leader, came up with a plan to hook up a new hood to its own 7" duct, put in a new bathroom fan and hook its duct up to the existing dryer duct. His goal was to not have to build a soffit for new duct work or to cut any extra holes in the ceiling. He was hoping to connect the new duct work to existing pipes which he expected to run up through the center of the building and to the roof. He gave me an estimate for this plan, but was clear that he wouldn't really know what he was dealing with until he opened things up. As it turned out there was no duct from the roof that reached all the way to our apartment, so he came up with a new plan and a new estimate. This one was considerably more expensive but that was because he had to open up five holes in the ceiling leading to the outer wall in order to install 3 separate ducts, one for each appliance. (It turned out that the duct for the dryer was flexible and therefore bent all over the place, 3" diameter and COMPLETELY filled with dirt, lint and grease. It was not usable.) George made sure that I understood the situation and his reasoning for his plan. He was willing to discuss all manner of alternative solutions. He was punctual, in terms of responding to emails and phone calls, as wells as arriving to work .He did a very nice job with the sheetrock work, plastering, sanding and priming; his patches look much better than the rest of my walls and ceiling! I am very pleased with the performance of my new appliances thanks to the fact that they are finally properly vented.

Description Of Work: We hired George Beck to renovate the kitchen and bathroom of our 1859 row house. He took kitchen and bathroom down to the lathing because of mold in walls, levelled floors, installed new sheet rock, performed electrical and plumbing work, installed new appliances, sinks, toilets, etc., replaced moldings, replaced and hung doors, painted rooms and back of house, fire escape, railings.
Comment: We interviewed 10 contractors before choosing George Beck. George is the best contractor we have ever encountered in 35 years of owning our house. His estimate was itemized and turned out to be accurate, any changes were presented in change orders, he came when he said he was coming, and his work (and his workmen) were meticulous. (You could see his work ethic in the way he kept his tools.) We are normally pretty circumspect but we are so happy with our new kitchen and bathroom that we want to recommend George most enthusiastically.

Description Of Work: George Beck of Builder Leader Contracting renovated my kitchen and my elderly mother's bathroom (she lives next door). For me, BLI installed new stainless steel appliances (stove, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator), new granite countertops and glass tile backsplash in my kitchen. For my mother (who is 92), he removed the bathtub and designed and installed a new stall shower, with glass door, new wall and floor tiles, hardware, and safety rails.
Comment: From start to finish, George Beck was very professional, courteous, punctual, worked cleanly (left no mess) and cost-effectively, and most importantly, did a beautiful job at a reasonable cost! He handled all plumbing requirements with ease and efficiency. We were totally satisfied with his work and love our new kitchen and bathroom. We would highly recommend George and Builder Leader Interiors for any interior work needed. We heard about his work from my sister and niece who live nearby; for them, he did all of the above as well as painting and refinishing wood floors, and child-proofing an open staircase and outdoor terrace.

Description Of Work: My husband and I employed Builder Leader's services for our new Coop apartment . We needed to remodel the bathroom (gutted fixtures, replaced with new and improved ones; installed travertine tiles). In addition, we had new Brazilian Koa hardwood floor installed. Finally, we replaced our antiquated tiles with new travertine tile.
Comment: Everything went as we expected; all services were provided punctually and to our satisfaction. We are extremely happy with the end results and have already recommended George Beck to friends and family!

Description Of Work: In October, 2008 George Beck installed a new wooden floor in a bedroom and repaired a wooden floor in my living room. The results of his work were excellent. In addition to the actual floor work, he helped in the purchasing of the material, removed and disposed of the damaged flooring, and removed and replaced furniture where necessary. The work was completed as scheduled. All debris was removed and the two rooms were left in spotless order.
Comment: I would highly recommend Mr. Beck for this type of work.

Description Of Work: George Beck was recommended to us by our building management, and we feel so lucky to have found him. His prices are reasonable and he does an absolutely beautiful job. He did my whole apartment, including bathroom and kitchen renovations, as well as refurbishing all the wood floors which came out looking brand new. He helped me pick out appropriate fixtures and he made great suggestions. Everything came out looking better than I had imagined, and it was all completed on time. He did everything when he said he would – there was no guessing as to when or if he’d show up. I liked him so much that my aunt had him do her kitchen, and my grandmother had him do her bathroom (we all live in Tribeca). They were both just as pleased as I was with the beautiful renovations, and the way George is just such a pleasure to work with. Everything he did was finished to perfection. He got his licenses and paper work all in really fast, and he's totally efficient and gets the job done in a very timely manner. If you want to work with someone who is professional and masterful at what he does, as well as honest and hard-working, then I highly recommend George Beck of Builder Leader.

Description Of Work: The job involved completely rehabilitating the plaster ceilings and walls (which are over 10 feet high) as well as restoring the wood floors and refinishing the wood trim on the windows and doors of our 3 bedroom, 2 bath co-op apartment constructed in 1875. Mr. Beck is an incredibly fastidious contractor and expert plasterer and painter. The ceilings, once the bane of the apartment, are now the most attractive feature. We are thinking of buying anti-gravity boots just so we can walk on the ceilings. In addition, Mr. Beck worked well with his subcontractors (in our case, a flooring contractor and an electrician), both of whom were also excellent. For example, when he was working with the electrician to re-wire the living room sconces and chandelier, they discovered that some of the electrical outlets were improperly connected to a dimmer switch, they let me know of the problem so I could discuss with them the method of correction. At every step of the way, Mr. Beck provided us with frequent updates and whenever he came across an issue that required our input, talked to us first. We had complete trust in him. As example, Mr. Beck discovered that the ceilings in one of the bedrooms had been repaired with no less than newspaper (hopefully, it was a good quality newspaper at least), he notified us that this surprise would take more man-hours than expected. Mr. Beck offered us the choice of (a) a small delay in completion time or (b) hiring additional workers to keep on schedule. In our case, we chose the latter because we had a firm move-in deadline. Needless to say, the additional people helped keep the job on schedule.
Comment: We very strongly recommend George Beck as a contractor. Mr. Beck recently finished a total renovation of our apartment in New York City and completed the job with the utmost perfection, care, and timeliness. In addition, he was on-time and on-budget!

Description Of Work: We are writing to commend the excellent job that you did with the bathroom of our co-op apartment. You did a meticulous job installing the sheet rock and the bath tub, laying the Marble tiles on the floor and walls, and painting the bathroom. The quality of your craftsmanship, particularly on the difficult task of laying the stone, was outstanding.
Comment: We couldn’t be happier with the results. Of equal importance, you were professional, responsive, and courteous throughout the project. We are really enjoying our beautiful new bathroom.
